Etsy DDP: shipping to US buyers from outside the US
Since July 9, 2026, Etsy’s Shipping Policy requires a Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) shipping method for every order shipped to the United States, so the buyer pays no import duties or fees on delivery. Pick the country you ship from to see the DDP services and carriers Etsy lists for it. Nothing you pick leaves your browser.
The rule, in Etsy’s words
This policy is effective as of July 9, 2026.
For orders shipped to the United States, use a Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) shipping method so that buyers are not charged import duties, taxes or other fees after purchase.
Etsy may, in its sole discretion, recognize limited exceptions to this requirement in rare circumstances where a DDP option is genuinely not available.
In these limited exception cases, you must obtain explicit buyer confirmation via Messages acknowledging that additional charges may apply on delivery, and provide an accurate estimate of those charges.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of all information you provide to customs authorities, either directly, through Etsy or through shipping carriers.

DDP or DDU: who pays at the door
When shipping international orders, the method of tariff and duty collection may vary depending on the destination, goods being shipped, and chosen shipping carrier.
Some postal carriers and commercial carriers use a shipping model known as Delivered Duty Unpaid (DDU).
With DDU shipping, buyers are responsible for paying any applicable tariffs, duties, taxes, and carrier handling fees when their order arrives in the destination country.

DDP is required for orders shipped to buyers in the US to qualify for Etsy Purchase Protection.
The US Administration announced that it's ending the de minimis exemption for tariffs effective August 29, 2025.

Etsy updated this table on 13 October 2026: Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain now have their own rows instead of sharing “Rest of Europe”, and Israel and the United States were added.
