Your Etsy bill: when Etsy charges its fees, and when it is late

Etsy takes its fees straight out of your sales. You only get a bill — an “amount due” — when a month’s fees, shipping labels and refunds are bigger than its sales. The bill lands on the 1st of the next month: auto-billing charges your card that day, a manual payment can be made from the 1st to the 15th, and a bill not paid by 12:00 am UTC on the 16th is overdue and the account may be suspended. Enter your month to see which side of the line you are on. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

Fees use the same dated table as the fee calculator: listing, transaction, payment processing and regulatory fees, plus the tax some countries charge on Etsy’s fees. Refunds are left out on purpose: when you refund, Etsy credits part of its fees back, and how much depends on the order (fees on refunds). Currency conversion and Offsite Ads fees go in the “Ads, labels” box if you had them.

How Etsy takes its fees

So most months there is nothing to pay: the fees are already gone from what reaches your bank. If deposits look smaller than you expected, or stopped, the deposit checker walks through Etsy’s reasons in order.

When you get a bill

The commonest first bill is a shop with listings and no sales yet: five listings published from the United States leave $1.00 due, because the $0.20 listing fee is charged when you publish and there are no sales to take it from.

The month, US shopEtsy feesAds and labelsMonth-end balanceResult
Five new listings, no sales yet$1.00$0.00-$1.00Amount due $1.00 on the 1st
Five new listings and Etsy Ads, no sales yet$1.00$10.00-$11.00Amount due $11.00 on the 1st
One $36.00 order (the listing renews after the sale), one shipping label$3.87$5.00$27.13No bill
The same order, with Etsy Ads and labels of $40.00$3.87$40.00-$7.87Amount due $7.87 on the 1st

Paying it: auto-billing or by hand

Etsy’s own articles disagree on who can use auto-billing. The fee payment article says If your shop is located in the US, you can enroll in auto-billing to automatically pay your amount due each month. The auto-billing article, edited two days later, says Sellers in all countries may opt in to auto-billing. If you are outside the US and want it, Shop Manager → Finances → Payment account is where Etsy shows the option.

Declined card or a late bill

Keeping a valid card on file matters even in months with no bill: an expired card is one of the reasons Etsy lists for stopping deposits, and the Star Seller badge can go with an overdue bill.

Otomatik ödeme (auto-billing) açıksa kartından o gün çekilir; değilse ayın 1’i ile 15’i arasında Shop Manager → Finances → Payment account → Pay now ile ödersin.
