Why hasn’t Etsy paid me?
Etsy lists the reasons a deposit does not arrive — a new-seller wait, a reserve, a 5-day hold after changing bank details, a negative balance, a missing card, a deposit day that has not come yet. Answer a few questions from your Payment account and get the one thing to do first, in Etsy’s own words. Nothing you click leaves your browser.
While you wait for the money, make the next sale easier. Growtsy reads a listing against live Etsy data and tells you the one thing to change first.

- Not your deposit day yet.
If the date of your next deposit hasn’t occurred yet, you can wait for that date, or select Start a transfer under your amount Ready for deposit.
If you’re a new seller, by default your funds will be sent to your bank account weekly, every Monday.
- New seller.
If you're a new seller, your funds will generally be eligible for deposit 14 days after a sale, though it may take longer depending on the specific standing of your shop.
For established shops, Etsy Payments orders may become available for deposit the next business day depending on the specific standing of your shop.
- Fees are more than sales.
If you owe more fees for your Etsy shop than you made in sales, you won’t have funds available for deposit. This means that your current balance is negative.
- No card on file.
To receive your Etsy Payments funds, you need a valid credit or debit card connected to your account.
Starting May 8, 2025, new sellers in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands are required to have a credit or debit card added to their account to enroll in Etsy Payments.
- No valid bank account.
To receive your Etsy Payments funds, you need to have a valid bank account connected to your shop, unless you’re located in a country where you’re required to accept deposits to a Payoneer Payment Account.
- New bank details.
Once you’ve updated your bank account, your Etsy Payments funds will be on hold for 5 days after verification to protect your account from any possible misuse.
- Bank account not verified.
If your bank account is located in the EU, Hong Kong, Singapore or Switzerland, you will need to verify your bank account before you can receive any funds from your sales for compliance purposes.
No matter where your bank account is located, you may see a message in your Payment account that you need to verify your bank account to continue receiving deposits.
- Seller info not confirmed.
Depending on if and what regulations apply to your shop, Etsy may need to hold your deposits until you confirm your info.
- Payoneer.
At this time, sellers who are required to use a Payoneer Payment Account are only able to receive deposits from Etsy each Monday.
Payment account reserves
If a Payment account reserve is placed on your account, a percentage of funds from each new sale of a physical item will be held and won't be available for deposit within the standard processing time.
If a reserve is placed in your shop, we’ll display the reserve holding time and percentage of reserve funds in your Payment account. These can vary based on your account.
Etsy will email you if a reserve is placed in your Payment account.
The fastest way out, according to Etsy: To release the funds for an order from a reserve, try adding a tracking number to the order. If Etsy can confirm the tracking shows the order in transit, the reserved funds will be moved to your current balance.
Funds become available at 6pm ET on the day they’re released from the reserve.
Sales of digital items are not held in reserve.
Etsy names these among the reasons a reserve is placed:
- A sudden sharp increase in orders or refunds
- Orders are consistently missing tracking information or tracking events
- Orders aren’t shipped on time
- A recent increase in refunds
- You've made your first sale on Etsy
Etsy may apply a Payment account reserve to your shop if you’re new to selling on Etsy and haven't yet established a track record on the marketplace.
To avoid one next time, Etsy’s first tips are: Ship your orders on time.
Don’t mark items as shipped before dropping them off with your carrier.
Respond to messages from customers quickly—within 24 hours if you can.
And: If you’re already a Star Seller, a reserve will not be placed on your shop.

When the money reaches your bank
Under Deposit schedule, choose daily, weekly, biweekly, or monthly deposits.
The daily deposit schedule requires that a minimum deposit amount be met before the funds will be automatically deposited. This minimum amount varies by country.
Etsy publishes the minimum for each currency on its deposit help page.
Depending on your bank, once a deposit is sent out, funds may take up to 1-5 business days to appear in your bank account for standard transfers.
Funds deposited through instant transfers are typically available within 30 minutes.
Select US sellers can now request instant transfers through a limited beta experience.
If a standard deposit day falls on a weekend or holiday, available funds will be sent to your bank account on the next business day. If you don’t see your funds available in the time frame of the type of deposit you chose, reach out to your bank for assistance.
